Hi Ron,
I missed your post to me about furled leaders, I think. My furled leaders are thread based and I prefer the Shorb loop rather than the metal ring. It is just a personal preference on my part. Sorry for not seeing this sooner, bud.

No problem, Tim. To be honest, I forgot I posted it. What a wonderful surprise to see my question answered. That old age thing I guess. Thanks for the response...made my day.

Ray, this thread is a old enough now that you've probably had time to get all your leaders wet. How do you like them? Which do you like best?

one thing about leaders: it is the most customizable component, which may be tailored to fit your exact needs.

Every rod, reel, line, fishing condition, is different.... as is each cast of the line! Yes, it takes quite a bit of work effort to adjust your leader while on-stream, but the dividends are WELL worth it.
Once you get dialed i, it is bliss.

I took Roadkill's suggestion and bought the Drag Fee Drift book. Definitely worth having if you want to tie your own leaders. It might be more useful to someone with Letemgo's mechanical mind to deal with the somewhat technical sections of the book. A fair amount of physics, math, etc in explaining the differences in materials etc, but if you can wade through all of that, the book is a great reference for anyone thinking of tying their own. I'm off and running with my own attempts at finding the ideal leader setup for my fishing. In any case, I doubt I"ll be buying the knotless store bought leaders for a while. Having the Maxima kit will enable me to build leaders for a long time.

Ron - I just tried doing a search for “Drag Fee Drift” on Amazon and it gave me a list of RuPaul’s Drag Race choices.    I suggest searching “ Drag Free Drift” instead. ;)

I’m still laughing!

Good luck with the custom leaders, and thanks for the book recommendation.

Ray,
I was reading over again all six pages of this wonderful post! There is a bunch of talented people out there including yourself! I must admit, I am jumping into some opulent waters concerning leader construction and formulas!
I am glad to see that most everyone has (or had) used Maxima brand leader material! I currently use both Chameleon and Ultragreen but using the UG more and more! Ray, I did note that you had asked me for my leader formula's and I will be glad to do this! It's only been a year and half or so! Sorry about that! I will get the pictures out to you soon!
I am liking Robert Smiths dropper leaders! They are as beautiful as I know they are functional!
