Fly Library

Post by joaniebo » Mon Dec 06, 2021 10:48 am

Got this idea from a recent Davie McPhail YouTube video, so I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some coin collecting sheets, plus some baseball card collecting sheets (for a Hackle Library). I get the feeling that I'm going to have a LOT of library time in the future!

That is going to be a collector’s item. What a great project. I look forward to seeing updates, as you fill in your library.

What a great idea. Thank you for sharing this. I think I may be visiting a craft store soon to start my own.
Thank you

Bob,

Let me know when it's finished. I have a library card. That means I can check it out--right!

As I’m going through my MANY fly boxes to add flies to the “library “, I look at a bunch of the flies and then think two things.

1. I have no idea what most of the flies are or what they are supposed to represent. But many just look so pretty!

2. How the hell am I ever going to fish all these flies?

Cheers

I like this idea a lot. So much so that I hit Amazon and ordered enough of the sheets to hold 200 flies in 2x2 inch pockets. They also have folding cardboard coin holders with cellophane on each side to hold coins. The holders fit right into the pockets and have holes sized to fit different coins from dimes to silver dollars. A set of those, 6 sizes, 100 of each size, are also on the way.

I thought having a book of all my favorite patterns, with a recipe page for each sheet, would make a grand gift for the kids and grandson when I'm fishing with my Dad again.

This would be a perfect way to organize the various sets of Flymph Forum swap flies. One page per swap. Nice!
