These pics were done at 600dpi, maybe some experiments at higher definitions
are required :?: .

Donald, if you're getting these kinds of results...I wouldn't change a thing! This is fantastic. The materials read very well, the lighting is great and the whole fly is in focus. I think this is great. Nicely done.

Looking a whole lot better than mine Donald. I have been experimenting a little with scanned images, still not happy with them, but it is a whole lot quicker and easier than setting up camera gear and light boxes!

Donald,
Bravo to you and your scanner.
And those are nice little flies as well.
It really is faster and easier than the whole camera setup, isn't it?
Your backgrounds are coming out a little darker than mine, which suggests to me that you are propping the scanner lid up a little to avoid bruising the little critters. Is that the case?

You've got it right Lance. I used a couple of books to raise the lid and not crush the flies.
One of the books was a copy of W. C. Stewart's 1857 'The Practical Angler'.
This was done with the plain white background of the lid. I shall see how coloured cards work.
That, and maybe playing around with DPI, is about all I shall do.
Much simpler and quicker than using a camera.
