Double Hook Greenwells.

Recently my much better half Kim had to have a surgical procedure. Whilst waiting on pre-op exams on Monday last week and whilst Kim was in theatre and recovery on Tuesday it gave me a chance to catch up on a little reading.
Mr Ron Eagle Elk sent me over a wonderful book, "The Upstream Wet Fly" by Terry Lawton, which is a wonderful read. Many thanks Ron.
Within the pages of this book I discovered a "new" (to me) method of adding weight to a pattern without using beads or lead wraps.
Tie the pattern on two hook laying side by side, so the body of the fly wraps around two shanks and you get a fly with a double weight hook- without using a heavier or longer hook.
The idea intrigued me, could not see how to do it with eyed hooks- so used a couple of cheap bait style hooks and cut the eyes off. I then snelled on a section of tipped to one hook in the vice, removed that one and snelled the other end of the tippet section to the second hook. Folding the short tippet section as a hinge formed the eye and allowed the two hooks to come together as one to commence tying. Kind of like a small salmon double..... but the bends of the hook can be moved to open or close the angle the two hooks form.
Anyhow, here is my take on the Greenwells double hook.
