Nice little find

I found some crewel wool at a thrift store earlier this month in a nice, insect green color. It worked so well that I wanted to find some more. My local craft store did not have any, so I searched on ebay and ran across this nice little lot, which I picked up for $5.02, shipping included:

Nice find. I am a big fan of yarn bodies although my finds are usually a little more "bulk" than the nice cards you have found. Much easier to store and organise your way.
You will have a lot of fun using that material, wrap it- separate strands for finer bodies- chopped up for dubbing mixes and for yarn tails.
Make sure you share your tying with this stuff.

Is this where we have robust discussion?
John, go to Flyanglersonline.com , if you havent already. Back in the Fly Tieing archives is a section written by the late Al Campbell. He did a series on the "Too Easy" flies he use to tie. That material is used in some of them. Worth a look if you havent already.

Thanks guys. The nice thing about this lot is they all seem to be pretty useful colors. Wayne, I will check the link you suggested. With my limited tying skills, easier is always better.
I read several of those patterns. They look good and simple. Just like me (at least the simple part).

My friend, the late Al Campbell, would have fit right in with this crowd. He was all about sharing information, techniques and enthusiasm. His fly tying series on FAOL is his legacy, besides a huge circle of friends who still miss him.

Ron, I still go to his fly archives for refresher courses.

John, That is an incredible little score, especially since all of the colors are buggy.
And Dubbn thanks for the links. This is about as robust a discussion as I can handle right now, thank you.

Every one of those colors is useful. Nice score, John. These would also work nicely for bi-colored woven patterns.

Beautiful yarn.
Those Al Campbell patterns are too simple to catch fish
