Your absolutely right, Mike. These are first class articles. I especially enjoyed Articles 4 & 5, regarding the Tweed flies. They are handsome little flies.

I wrote a couple of very favourable review of these hooks some years ago, if they had been available in straight eyes, and I had been able to get hold of them easily, I would probably be using them mostly as well. As it is I use the Drennans ( Daichi ) hooks I have often mentioned here.

Found at least one of the old reviews; http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/reviews/ashima01.htm
Mike,
In the first article David Westwood mentions Partridge Z2 hooks. Do you know anything about these? Bill

Mike,

Excellent series of articles. Well worth reading through more than once. Thanks for posting that.

Nice to hear you enjoyed them, but the credit is really due to Ruard for putting them on his site.
The really credit is David Westwood who did write these articles and the Flydressers Guild who placed them!!

The Daiichi 1640 looks like the Drennan super specialist, but the Drennan is much thicker, much more havy.

Nice! The articles and flies are very interesting. I've never tried the specimen hooks, but I do like the look of them. Guess I'll have to purchase a few. Thanks for posting, Mike.

Mike

I tried sending you a note via this forum but it was refused. I have a copy of "Jim Wynn's Recommended Flies for the River Wharfe". Please send me a regular e-mail at Robert dot OL at sbcglobal dot net, if interested.

Best
