I was given this by a friend.. the hackle pliers give an idea of size, a moderately sized bird. I have no idea, but thinking maybe a pheasant of some sort??

Whatever it is, it has nice markings....

Ideas?

It sort of looks like a hen pheasant which has been dyed.

Whatever it is, it is lovely. Would work nicely on march brown patterns (and lots of other stuff to I'd imagine).

That's what I'd guess also.

Thanks for that, certainly does have hen pheasant marks now I look at it. It's not a dyed skin, so maybe it's a mutant strain or something...

John - If that is not dyed, it may be a copper pheasant skin. Wow! Color me jealous!
