Ray,

Those quills are dyed by a friend of mine and I believe he uses Rit dye. The photo I took is not the best photo but the quill is deep blue in color.

Nice looking fly and great job with the hackle. Is the effect more of a purple or blue overall?

Thanks, the purple and starling is one my favorite patterns for the early little black caddis and this looks like an excellent pattern for it. Do you know which RIT dye is used?

The Rit color is called Azul Jean

Me being me recognized the word 'Azul' from it's usage where I live.
