I must say that of all the flies I put together, Edmonds & Lee's March Brown - No 8b is my very favorite dressing to dress (and fish). If I've posted this pic before my apologies.

From Brook & River Trouting

No. 8b
March Brown
Ephemeridae

Hook - 2 or 3
Wings - Hackled with a mottled brown feather from a Snipe's rump.
Body - Orange silk, No. 6a, dubbed with the fur from the nape of a rabbit's neck which has been lightly tinged red with Cranshaw's Red Spinner dye, and ribbed with gold wire or tinsel.
Tail - Two strands from a feather from a Snipe's rump, same feather as used for the wings.
Head - Orange silk.
April, and often May.

Even if you did post it before, it is a treat to see it again. Great ties!

Superb. I love these. Beautiful color combination, and tyed with style. I especially like the tapered profiles of the body and heads. I’d fish these with great confidence. ;)

Can you tell us more about the dubbing blend you used for the bodies? Is that a custom blend? Can you post the full recipe?

The dubbing was really simple... simply taken from a dyed red hare’s ear mask

I REALLY like that color..........did you buy the mask dyed? If yes, where from?

Thanks

Can you post a picture of the mask, for reference? I definitely need one of those.

The dyed red hare's ear mask was nothing more than a mask from Hareline. That being said, I've previously purchased hare's ear masks from US suppliers and also from Cookshill and the Cookshill hare's ear masks are quite a bit larger and of very good quality with lots of fur / hair. So, next order to Cookshill will have a dyed red hare's ear mask included.

Also, mixing a little natural / clear anton adds a little sparkle to the dubbing (I use the red hare's ear both ways in dubbings).

Used the same dubbing with and without a gold bead for variations.

Marvelous sets of flies. They all look like capital killers.

These are all just fantastic. That colored dubbing is beautiful, especially with the 8b thread. Such a nice combination. Lance ties a partridge flymph using a pink dubbing on waxed primrose or orange that gives a very similar effect. Of course I think I'm down to my last one.
