They look both busy and poisonous.

Great color combo, nicely shaggy dubbing, and good looking hackle. In the right water these should kill.

joaniebo, Howdy;
Don't know who, don't know when, just know that I've read or heard, most likely read that
the best flies are overdressed by the dresser then trimmed to it proper proportions by the
trout themselves. I think you've given them some wonderful stock to work with.

Re: Woodcock & Red Squirrel
Are the lower flies tyed with belly fur? They have a lighter appearance than the top set.
Super buggy, in the best way.

Shaggy or not I like their aesthetics. Shape, colour and form. Look like great flies to me.
Not that I'm much of a fly tier.

Re: Woodcock & Red Squirrel
Re: the lighter colored fur, it probably was belly fur. But I can't remember if I had a small pelt or whether someone had given me a small patch of a fox skin with various shades of fur.

Re: Woodcock & Red Squirrel
Thanks. I was guessing that you were taking fur directly off a hide, to get the different shades.
