Tied a few Hare's ear and Partridge recently. Partridge feather collar from the bird's back. Orange Danville thread and a mix of Hare's ear, Cat, Red FoxSquirrel and some Floss strands for a little color for the Dubbing. Spun the Dubbing on some Gutterman's Silk in Chestnut on a Clark Dubbing block. I really need to work on my lighting situation in my tying area. Moving just a foot or so changes the color significantly.

Great patterns! We all deal with that and it can be frustrating. You can do fine with 2 lights for photography. Don't spot light them and have some light coming at an angle from the front and the other at an angle from the back. You'll have to play with it depending on the fly, photographic angle etc. Back lighting is important for showing the structure and texture of the fly's profile. Light at the front should be diffused (at least not spot lighted). If lighting with the flies in a vise, one light at an angle down from the back and one angled down from the front. Use aluminum foil or I went and bought a "mirror" piece of scrapbook paper to place under the fly and reflect light up onto the bottom of it. If you want to move to the next level, build a light box. There are a bunch of options online. They be made very cheaply and easily.

Those are flies I would fish with confidence, Tom. Very much in the flymph tradition.

If you have a sunny window you can cover it with some inexpensive diffusion fabric. The sun is CRI 100.

They are all beautiful, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the fly in the third photo. I love the chocolate brown dubbing, with glimpses of the silk core showing thru. Nicely tyed and photographed.

NICE ties, SenecaLaker. Interesting dubbing blend. What is your tailing material? Nice proportions and excellent hackling. Nice photos, too. I’m struggling with my photos. My best photos are taken early in the day; my tying desk is in front of two windows.

In regards to lighting, my tying area is in the basement. I installed led tracklighting over the ping pong table that I tie on. So it's decent. My camera is my smartphone at this point. Overall it works pretty well for now. The photos are great for studying how I can make things better . A camera and lightbox are in the near future I think.

These are gorgeous patterns and I love the variations you have imparted! They are very well photographed too! This is something that has alluded me for quite some time! You did (and hopefully continue to do) well!

I've not found any website that has the wealth of shared information and skills as this one and it inspires me to tie more wet flies..... now how do I find time to fish with all these flies I'm tying...
