Quite awhile back, I saw a pic of this dressing and the name got my attention - "Bloody William's Other Mate", so I had to tie a few. Don't remember if I still have them or fished them, but I got a chuckle when I saw the pic in my computer files.

Those look like a murderous lot! Capital killers, as they used to say.

Thank you for sharing these. I plan to tye some for my spring box.

Question - Do you still have the recipe? I can make out most of the materials from the photo, but a recipe would remove the guesswork.

The dressing for "Bloody William's Other Mate" was taken from pages 16 and 17 from T. Donald Overfield's book: "50 Favourite Wet Flies." Will have to dig out the book and take a couple pics.

Bob,
These patterns are exquisite! Very well tied indeed! I have a variation of this pattern on my "corks" on the den wall and differs in that I have no tail but the back one third of the dubbing is a bright red and the whole thing is ribbed with very fine braid (oval tinsel) in silver! Yours look much better than mine....but, that is a given!
As always, impressed with your work (your pleasure!),
Dougsden

My apologies for the delay in posting the requested info....to be honest, I forgot!

Awhile back, I bought all three books written by T. Donald Overfield....."50 Favourite WtFlies; 50 Favourite Dry Flies; and 50 Favourite Nymphs." Interesting little books that didn't cost too much...but then again, I bought them 7 to 8 years ago and haven't checked on availability or price since then.
