Irish Infused.

Several moths ago I saw a video on Irish Mayflies. It really stuck me and I just had to fool with a few. I have not been able to really test them, warmer weather is on the way. I did fish them a couple of times over the winter and the 4" brookies loved them. I'm sure the next months will find them in a few larger trout.

Alan,
These Irish Mays are drop dead gorgeous! The words Mega-Flymph" comes to mind. I can just imagine the amount of air or bubbles these hackle fibers will trap. Trout will not be able to refuse them! Brook trout in particular!
Please don't forget to post the results you get with these beauties on the larger members of the stream!

I look at those flies and wonder if they spin the leader up when casting. About 5 years ago when I was buying a fair amount of the very long dry fly saddle hackle I was tying up some bivisibles as my dad fished those before I absconded with his gear. Anyways the long stiff hackle made me think that "anything worth doing is worth doing to excess". I over wound the hackle and put about 3 times as much on. Boy that fly bounced on what ever it landed on. Unfortunately it twisted real bad when casting and really wound the leader up.

I have not experienced "twisting" The hackle is not stiff at all.
