I tie quite a few small flies with starling feathers. I can't find dyed skins locally. Anyone recommend a source and are the dyed skins really worth having for variety. Does the dying weaken the feathers?

https://competitiveangler.com/shop/body ... ling-skin/

I have never purchased any dyed starling, just natural.

Good link, that site has a whole host of interesting materials starling is a very delicate feather, Iā€™m guessing that bleaching it would weaken it considerably as might some dyes.

I've ordered from Competitive Angler a few times. No problems. I highly recommend.

I have several dyed starling skins, as well as a bleached skin. The feathers are no more fragile than a standard skin. I bought them from a guy who does small batch dying at a fly expo in Washington years ago. I looked on the packages for his info, but there was none. Sorry.

I've been getting my skins from Mike Hogue - Eflytyer.com. I haven't bought any dyed skins from him, but I've gotten a few dyed packs. I have been very happy with everything I've bought from him.
