Looks great! I agree, BEST pattern ever devised! Doesn't look like it, but the spider series is probably THE best pattern ever. Always keep a few in my box. :D

fishnkilts - that is a very accurate depiction of the original pattern, as described and tied by Stewart. This is also one of my favorite patterns..... its "mustard" according to Ollie Edwards in his video. For those of you who have not seen it, should.
One point: the more scraggly this pattern gets the better it fishes.

I have seen that video many times and I still watch it. I tried to tie it Oliver's way, but something about it kept fighting me, so I did it Davie's way. I also fish a lot like Olliver does as well. Fishing these spiders upstream is just as he said, it's just more fun.

Every now and then, I get the urge to do a few of the Stewart's Black Spiders and break a few starling hackles! But, I seem to go back to tie (and fish) more "Black Magic Spiders" than Stewart's.
