Nothing to write home about

Post by Fishnkilts » Thu Mar 26, 2020 8:59 pm

But it's just a fly that's like many, but I put a red streak down the sides. I think it looks alright, but I'm somewhat new to this. I don't know if this fly exists or not, but if it does, what's it's name?

Hook: Partridge Patriot SLD2
Hackle: Starling
Body: Black Peacock ( I forgot to wrap tinsel around it, next time I will )
Tail: Golden Pheasant tippet
Red streak: Just a few fibers from a red feather I got from somewhere.

Oh, I recognize that pattern. It’s called “Tartans Glory”. :D

Handsome fly. And no doubt very effective.

Thank you for the inspiration. ;)

Excellent. Love the hint of red.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Dearest "Kilts",
A wonderful looking pattern. Very pleasing to the eye! I know that our fish will find it just the same!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

Fishnkilts,

Thanks for the inspiration!!
My red side streaks are a twisted rope of 3 small red tinsels ribbed with small silver wire over natural peacock.

Another fly to fish this year! 8-)

Ray do you have any other info on Tartans Glory? My google search only turned up links to Greenwells Glory.

Sorry to mislead you Bill. That was my attempt at humor. I just made that up.

Guess I should stick to engineering. :ugeek: (attempt at humor) :ugeek: :D ;)

Gorgeous set of flies, btw. Best compliment you could give Kilts. ;)

Too funny Ray because at some point one of your minions (a Google Bot) will christen my fly with that name across the Net! ;) :D

From now on, if I am stuck for a name I'll just forward it on to you!

Those look fantastic Roadkill, and just the look I was going for.

Maybe I could think of new fly deigns and just let you all tie them up? :D

Ray, you have given me an idea. I'll see what I can come up with by using some of the colors of my Tartan. But no promises.
