Body: Dubbing rope - Arizona peacock dubbing material
Tinsel: S French Tinsel
Thorax: Natural mole
Hackle: Dun hen hackle

Ray,

I got these hooks from Tactical Fly Fisher. They are mainly used for European nymphing but I like them for soft hackle flies as well.

great pattern....... we see many patterns posted here and elsewhere, but this particular one is outstanding. Dohiku makes a decent hook, I buy mine from the Dette Shop.

Like the other members who responded to your post, I like this fly.
I was surprised when I saw the picture; it's not what I expected to see
when the title of the post was: Black Caddis. I was thinking, black body,
black hackle--a mostly black fly.

Does this pattern darken a lot when wet?

Very nice! Love the proportions and the color/textural effects. This looks very fishy and worthy of pattern theft!
