Light Red Fox Squirrel & Partridge

Post by joaniebo » Sun Aug 16, 2020 11:43 am

Started tying a few of these over a month ago and just finished numbers 11 and 12 today. Just can't get too motivated to tie flies when it's this hot outside. That being said, it's also been too hot for this old guy to do any trout fishing this season, so they go into the Wheatleys with all the other non-used flies!

Size 14 Mustad 3906 hooks; gold wire rib; Pheasant Tails; light red fox squirrel touched dubbed with Overton's Wonder Wax; and Hun Partridge hackles - gray and brown.

Also did a half dozen using Light Hare's Ear Plus for the dubbing.

Beautiful flies, if I may, what is the BLUE bit on the ones in the bottom pic. ?
Neat bit of eye catcher that.
