Has anyone had any experience (good or bad) with bags of 'Premier Partridge"feathers from Nature's Spirit? Loose feathers in a bag? Have a couple of skins, but got burned a few years ago with loose Partridge feathers, so have always used skins since.

The bagged feathers are junk.

Use the ones off the skin.

I got some bagged feathers from Cookshill years ago and they were great as far as condition and sizing. A bit more expensive than from Nature's Spirit. I prefer to use the full skins, also from Cookshill.

usually do, but my experience with Nature's Spirit material has been very good, so thoughtI that I'd at least see if they were any good.

I purchased the "Premium" whole partridge skins from Nature's Spirit and they are very good skins. I've also purchased bagged partridge feathers from Cookshill in natural, brown and dyed colors. Have never been disappointed with anything from Cookshill.

My view And past experience is that if you can’t buy the skin don’t buy the bagged feathers, just find a sub.

Down here we don’t have the luxury of choice, so bagged feathers are usually (always...) utter crap and not worth the money. Even skins are sometimes awful.

I don’t know. Maybe Veniards and Hareline send their crap skins to NZ because they don’t think we count or something. I have had good skins, particularly from Veniards ( a wonderful full grouse skin comes to mind) but had rubbish as well.

Some local stuff is good, but you Really have to pick and choose. I have what would be an AA+ local full peacock skin that’s almost to good to use. Ditto for some Pukeko and Pheasant.

We have to buy through dealers for skins ( fur and feather) as we have extremely strict biosecurity laws - and so we should - meaning getting anything with a skin into the country can be an absolute mission. The Flyshops have import certificates that make life easier...
