No Body Caenis variation

Post by Roadkill » Sun Sep 15, 2024 5:36 pm

My thanks to ronr for introducing me to a hot fly on the Crooked River. He had recently fished it with great success just a few days before I got over to Camp Roadkill.

Here is my variation...

Hook-Dai Riki 1xs Scud #16
Body-None
Thread- UTC 70 F White tying in some trailing Micro Zelon at the thorax
Thorax-Gray Hare Tron tied over a few Pheasant tail fibers to pull over as a shell back and for the legs on the sides

I tied up some quick versions of his fly late that night to fish with my friend Kelly when we hit the Crooked the next day.

Mine came out more like cripples of his version but they worked. ;)
