I bought the book years ago after reading about it in one of Roger Fogg’s books. These days, I read it on my iPad because I don’t want to add any more wear and tear to an already old book. I’m glad to see a new book about this nearly forgotten fly fisher. I think one thing that led to him being so unremembered is the unavailability of the hackles. His description of OEG hackles is beyond amazing. By the time of Cutcliffe; cock fighting had been illegal for years. He was forced to raise his own birds to get the hackles he desired. John’s photographs will be real asset to anyone wanting to tie the flies.
