Hidy's Sports Illustrated Patterns

Re: Hidy's Sports Illustrated Patterns
All 3 are #12 3399's. When you are that close up on the photos it makes is hard to tell sometimes because any little tilt or angle change in the fly can mess with the shape of the hook.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Wow—what a pleasure to see this faithful tribute. You've bridged more than fifty years here, blending your tying style with Pete Hidy's. I love it, Carl.
Re: Hidy's Sports Illustrated Patterns
Thanks. I enjoyed tying them.

Exceptional, Carl. That's next level eye candy right there.

Carl,
I am going gaga over these three! They are beautiful! So well tied! Very near perfection as D.D. says! What else do you have for us?

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.
Re: Hidy's Sports Illustrated Patterns
Hi Carl, can you post a photo of the originals?
Thanks in advance.

Tim.

How hard can it be?
Re: Hidy's Sports Illustrated Patterns
In the book the originals are just drawings. Hidy gives detailed instructions for each pattern. It seems the instructions are to walk the beginner wet fly fisher through the basic methods of tying wet flies starting with the Leisenring Spider then the Brown Hackle and finishes with the Hare's Ear Fly. Lance may have photos of the original patterns listed.
