The rib is Rhea feather
I haven't got any of that. :(
but you could use pale turkey or even Condor substitute.
Or that :( Or that :( :(

So I'm afraid it is going to have to be...

Goose and Orange

Just a bit of fun, Philip... ;)
But I'll tell you what - I'll be having a go fishing it after the last time!

It is orange silk, waxed btw, four strands of goose fibres twisted, copper rib, partridge hackle, and a splash of red wool at the thorax. :)

Amazing where this taking us.
I wonder if we could undertake a challenge of tying traditional dry fly patterns as spiders or soft hackles.
Nothing would be sacred hey.
Good fly by the way Andy. If we get to catch up later in the season I have a Rhea or two for you. Very very similar to Heron in structure.

Out on the small stream earlier this afternoon, and catching on the Goose and Orange / March Brown I nicked off Philip, and I also had a couple off the top with the little mono-loop para fly I nicked off Roy! Very cool 8-)

This fly - what i called goose and orange above (!) and was a take on Philip's march brown variant - it is catching very well for me over the last couple of weeks. had a 12 - 13 inch grayling on it today (!) and that is a good fish from my small stream. Couple of little brownies as well.

I'll be keeping on fishing it, that's for sure! :D
Cheers Philip... ;)
