Izaak, glad you liked the flies. I appreciate you inquiring about my cat. Sadly, she didn't make it. We tried. She started getting better, then went downhill again. The meds just couldn't overcome the liver disease. I've never had a cat get something like this before. She was my favorite. I still have the youngest one, the wild woman. Then I have my daughter's old cat, the fat one. While my cat was sick, one of my son's dogs got bit by a snake. Off to the vet again. She got antibiotics, and steroids. I am happy to say, she has made a full recovery. I'm even happier that tomorrow is her last day of antibiotics. The dog was the 3rd to get bitten by a snake here. The first two dogs got bit by a water moccasin. The first dog didn't make it. The second dog did. When the 3rd dog got bit, I thought it was poisonous too, but it wasn't. I saw the snake, but could not identify it. When she started swelling up, I thought, oh no, not again. I just knew it was poisonous. The vet didn't think so. Anyway, the dog is doing great. She is a nine year old German Pincher. She is as fit, and trim, as she was when she was young. So all of this, and my big dog was having trouble too. Needless to say, I've had it rough here. Here is a photo of my cat Ginger, the one who passed. She was a very sweet girl to me. But she didn't like anyone else.


Old Hat, thank you for your kind words as well. I can't wait to get in that bunch of thread. I was really surprised I liked that thread, that much. Benecchi has a dun thread I like too. If y'all haven't tried the Gordon Griffith, you should. It is much cheaper than Benecchi, and I think Benecchi just may have lost out, in my material list. Once I use the GG Sheer more, I will make that deciding factor. But if I have one more jacked up spool from Benecchi, I am writing them off for good.

Sorry to hear the news of your cat passing away. You've been through a lot recently with your animals. Snakes, we don't have a problem with them here but coyotes are becoming a growing concern and several people have lost their pets due to a coyote grabbing them from their back yard. I've been around cats my whole life, have 3 now, Tut, an abyssinian, is 15 and getting a bit feeble. The other 2 are much younger. Youngest is also an aby, and is sick now with a stomach bug or something. Thank goodness for laminate flooring. Makes cleanup a lot easier. OK, I'm getting too graphic!

The woods are behind me, and I'm uphill from a creek. That is why they come here. The day my son's dog got bit, there was a bit of flooding from the creek below. That must of sent the snake up here, seeking shelter. We have coyotes here too. The first big drought a few years ago, and they came up here, behind my fence, in the bamboo. That yipping and howling they do is unnerving. They didn't come in the fence, because my mastiff let them know, they weren't welcome. My son and I went down there with a flashlight, and a bb gun, to scare them off too. I saw a coyote late one afternoon taking off with somebody's cat. I didn't know they ate cats, but I found out they did. Coyotes make good fly tying material. Sorry, I couldn't help myself. My mastiff is 9 now. I have a five foot fence. But I think they might be able to jump that.

So sorry to hear your cat is sick. When my cat was sick, I thought she had a hair ball that was stuck. Then she quit eating. I bought her some special food, and special hair ball treatment too. That didn't work. So then I took her to the vet. I had to mostly feed her with a syringe after that. The vet said she was a bit young for liver disease. The photo showed her at her fattest. After that she did lose some weight, but not much. She was fat, but the fat cat is obese. (my daughter's cat) The youngest cat is a nice weight, but she is more active. The young cat is always on the prowl for a little fun. She even fetches her mouse for me to throw for her now. I never taught her. They can be a lot of fun, but mostly, the cats here sleep.
