That's very cool Vicki.....tkx. for such an honest reaction.....Bill, you made me think of Mel K., and the first word that came to mind as i read you last word, was WHOMP!

i always think of Mel when i hear "angle to the dangle." We use to see him at Conclave every year........i had some great conversations with him 3 or 4 times. Once Misako and i went fishin' on the Boulder.........and we moved around a bit from spot to spot.........going further and futher upstream............WAY up on the dirt road..........and we finally found this perfect pool on the right side of the road with a nice pull-out and plenty of parking with only one other car already there. So we get out and get all rigged up and headed for the river............and we see this white fly line going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth............and then we get to where we can see the angler.............but his back is to us. Then we see that he has no fly on the end of the tippet and he isn't fishing, just casting. Then i notice a guy taking pics of this angler who is only casting. Finally the angler turns around, and it's Mel. i started craking up. He spots us and says hi, and starts comming our way.........when he reaches the bank, he's havin' a bit of trouble getting out, so i give him a hand, and pull him up on the bank. Turns out they were only there so the photographer could get some shots for Mel's new book. And he was purposefully using a white line against a dark bacground so the pics would show correctly. Well, i ask him if he minds if we fish a little, and he says heck no, take the pool, we're gonna go have lunch and we'll be back. So i tell him , when he gets back we'll get out so he can continue working. He says fine, and they never do come back. We fished there for 4 hours and caught a crap load of fish. It was amazing. We'd catch round a half dozen each and then the fish would go down...........so we'd get out and rest the pool, then go back and do it all over again. And we did that 4 or 5 times, every time catchin' bout a half dozen fish each before we'd have to rest the pool again...........lots of Brookies and Cutts. It was one of the best days we've ever had fishing together.....all on top with Hoppers. Later that night, back at Conclave going's-on......we saw Mel, and he told us they had found and even better spot for takin' pis, and that's why they never came back. That's the kinna stuff that can happen at Conclave.......i mean we were 70 miles from the Best Western we were all staying in, in Livingston, and we run into Mel like that........
