Breadcrust

Hook - Mustad 3906, 3906B or equivalent, size 8-16
Thread - Black
Ribbing - Dark brown neck hackle stem and fine gold wire
Reverse wrap the body with fine gold wire after ribbing has been wrapped
Body - Orange yarn or dubbed synthetic fur
Hackle - Grizzly hen hackle

Popular Fly Patterns by Terry Hellekson.

There are many version of this fly and its recipe. This is just another method of tying it.
Flytiers sure have a way at making things difficult

Well done, nice. Very tidy version and none of the hassle of
de-pithing a feather shaft as well.

You guys are hilarious! Somebody needs to write a book on "The humor of the Flymph Forum"!
Norm, yours is just how I remember this pattern looking from my failing memory! I do like the additional (?) silver wire rib counter wound over the body! Very sharp and I would assume very functional! Also, your dubbing work is phenomenal! Can I come visit you in your parlor sometime?
