I have to give credit to my fishing partner Ken for sending me to this fly pattern video...

Here is my resulting fly variation... ;)

Hook-Wholesale Fly Company M 27 #12
Threads- UTC 70 Tan for the body with a coat of Sally Hanson's Hard As Nails & Black 3/0 Monocord for the Dubbing & Hackle
Dubbing-my Buffalo Dubbing blended with a trace of Black Hare's Ear Plus and some Firestar Trilobal Nylon
Hackle-Whiting Ginger Dun Hen
Bead-2.8mm Copper

And Thanks to Old Dominium Trout Bum for the video inspiration! 8-)

P.S. Here is the final product...

My #12 above was my first attempt to determine how I was going to dub and use a hackle instead of the CDC used in the original. I also cut back my hackle to one turn instead of 2. This hook is a #14 with a 2.4mm bead and adds the original CDL tail as well.

Next step to tie some 16s. ;)
