Crimson and co...llins.

Post by daringduffer » Tue Nov 09, 2010 3:12 pm

I feel the urge to share tonights tying on this dying site. I will do it in the way they did it twohundred years ago. When they posted their patterns in those days they did not include even a black-and-white photo. Their internet servers could not handle those.

Mustad 3366 sz 18
Crimson Sheer 14/0
Barred bronze dun Collins hen, one turn
Lagartun fine silver wire rib
Peacock hurl, dyed crimson by pure irishman and wound with every turn touching the hook (sort of, a layer of thread in between)

Use your imagination and get overwhelmed.

Poor fish...

dd

Edit - Crimson was not crimson but Claret - sorry. Poor me...

It's amazing how I can "see" the fly form in my minds-eye, as I read through the recipe. Poor fish indeed. ;)

Oh, yes....what a killing fly. :D
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Ruard,

When you tie this fly, and take a picture of it, please notice that I have edited the initial post. It was claret not crimson.
