Another great looking fly: did you dye the rabbit yourself? For some reason, I never seem to run into "yellow-ish" masks in my local flyshop.

I bought a hares mask which had been already dyed a golden color. It has been a couple years since I bought it, so I can't remember which vendor I bought it from. I clipped all of the hair off the mask and made custom blends out of it. I did this with a range of different color hares masks and combined the dubbing into a single dispenser.

lovely fly as usual Ray. Really like the dubbing (and the hackle; and the tail)
Thanks for putting this one up.

I used gold hare's ear for my flies in the latest IBF Swap. I bought the mask at Wholesale Sports (Used to be Sportsman's Warehouse) a couple of months ago. They had a lot of the Hareline products on sale including the dyed hare's masks. I managed to pick up a nice olive, the gold, a black, sort of a fiery brown and a spare natural.

I did some digging and found that Cabelas carries the hares ear masks in gold (see link below).

Another source I have used for materials is an online retailer called FishUSA (see link below). I bought some nice hares masks from them, as well as some dyed partridge skins. They don't have a huge selection, but their prices are good and the material I have purchased has been of good quality. These guys carry a couple colors that can be hard to find at other places (i.e. - dun, and yellow).

I bought my hares ear mask from one of these two vendors.

EDIT - Thanks Ron. I did a quick Google search and found the website you mentioned. Here is a direct link for anyone interested. Looks like a good price for their hares masks.

REE, Ray...thanks for the leads--I've got natural, black, golden brown, and olive masks: anybody else who's always just one material away from what you want to tie?

 I know exactly what you mean. Every time I see someone else's flies I "need" another tying material. Fortunately I can afford it with all of the money I save by tying my own flies. (yeah right :D )
