Grouse & Quill

Post by Stendalen » Sun Dec 12, 2010 5:44 pm

I have no idea if this creature would be a killer in any water, just playing around.

Once again, I really like that fly. Your on a roll. I know there are several fish that would eat a fly like that in a heartbeat.

Nice dressing. Love the quill body.

Dear Stendalen,
I love the graceful lines that the Partridge YK12ST gives your pattern. If it's true what they say, "the clothes make the man", you are one well dressed dude. With a great foundation of classy looking irons like this one. Great job! Make more!

Nice fly and nice tying too. Is the quill a natural one from a peacock or.....?

Thank you all!

The quill was just a leftover cock feather that I stripped.

Stendalen,

I haven't tied on that particular hook, so it might be a little larger than the Tiemco or Daiichi of the same type, but on a size #16 that is a really fine hackle quill. It's nice for any size hook, but I always admire a really well wrapped quill and this is a good example.
