Purchased my first ever digital camera yesterday (yeah, I know ... welcome to the 21st century) and am still in the process of learning how to use it. Focus in the macro mode seems to be the biggest problem. Anyhow, below is a shot of an olive soft hackle tied Tenkara style that I'm posting just to see how it looks.

Hook: Daiichi 1550, #16
Thread: 8/0 Uni, olive dun
Hackle: From neck of French Partridge
Body: Stripped peacock herl (Nature's Spirit bleached and dyed eyestick, caddis green)

Have you tried taking any pictures with the camera less than 6" away from the lens? The macro setting on my camera works best when the fly is in the range of 1/2" to 6" away from the lens. If you are further away, and using the digital zoom, you may have difficulty getting a sharp image. You may want to check your owners manual to see the optimum settings for the macro feature.

Lovely fly, by the way. I too have been getting interested in the Tenkara style flies. This looks like a lethal pattern.

Good lookin fly ... I'd listen to what Ray has ta say as he hasn't posted a bad photo yet.
Looking at that fly makes me think about going along a highway an seeing all of the horses or cows all faceing in the same direction on a windy day
... they face AWAY from the wind.

Thank you folks, for the kind words and suggestions. Please don't hesitate to direct me to sources of info that may help me learn more about the picture taking end of our art. I'm headed for Somerset very shortly, but will get back to the photo learning upon return on Sunday.
