Name That Fly

Post by kanutripr » Mon Feb 21, 2011 4:32 pm

So just because I'm bored today I thought we could play a little game. I was tired of tying swap flies so for a little break I tied this one...well... just because. Someone may have seen something like it before but I just threw together a bunch of materials that were on the table so I don't know. Anyway let's give it a name.

hook - #14 Togen emerger 58528
thread - dk brown 8/0 Uni
hackle - natural black
tag - silver French tinsel
abdomen - blood red marabou twisted
rib - Silver French tinsel

how about "Bloody Loch", or maybe, "I jammed this in my middle finger and forgot to pinch the barb down, made a bloody mess and look what happened to my fly."

Very nicely done, and probably a great still water pattern i would imagine. I can't think of a species that wouldn't grab that.

How about the "Bloody Snatcher"

The style is similar to a style of fly tied over here called the..... Snatcher.
