Dun hen flymph
This is one plain flymph. Nothing fancy, for sure. However, I love it and fish it with confidence.
hook ..... #12, 3x heavy nymph/wet fly hook
thread ... brown
tail ....... few barbs from hackle feather
body ..... light gray hare dubbing, without additions
hackle ... dun hen feather; plain domestic chicken feather, from saddle, soft and webby

I can see why you'd fish that with confidence -- it's beautiful and buggy as well.

Yep, the entire pattern is a trigger. Thanks for sharing.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Kacbo,
I don't know why I didn't comment on your pattern earlier. It's fantastic! There are two things that catch my eye on this one. The bodies shape and texture. It's soo suggestive of alot of different insects and the ways they look underwater. Well done. The other is the hackle. The color blends well with the body. And, you have chosen the length to be just perfect!
Overall look is wonderful. Imagine the surprise to your trouts when they gobble up this beauty? Have you laid a few of these on your desk either in a row or randomly? Try this. You will like what you see!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.
