Meat & Spuds kinda softie...

Post by fly_fischa » Mon Dec 12, 2011 10:09 am

Taking another break from competition ties today, cranked out a few softies, here's one...
I'm living in London atm, travelling light so my photography setup is not that great. The results are reasonable but some of the details get lost. The colour of the ribbing on this fly looks really cool, it complements the rest of the fly but doesn't show in the photo :( It's a very light coloured silvery purple...

Wonderful, despite what you say are limitations on your photo set-up. I especially like the way you got the thorax herl to bristle like that.

EXPLETIVE!!! (sensored to remove cuss word I exclaimed when I opened this post)

I feel sorry for the folks your competing against. Doesn't seem like a fair contest at all. My money's on you, all the way. Wonderful combination of materials, Karsten. I plan to steal many of your ideas for future patterns. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks guys, glad you like my offering of meat & spuds. :)

Ray - That's high praise indeed coming from the man I consider the Yoda of soft hackles, and that's not because you've got big ears buddy.
Thanks mate, that really means a lot to me...

Karsten - I'm no Yoda. I am more like the Jar Jar Binks of soft hackles. Me'sa still learning, okey'day!

Did you see the thread I posted earlier this year, regarding the Muzzy Buggers you sent me (see link below)? Man, I caught a LOT of fish on those flies earlier this year. Very effective fly!!! Thank you. ;)

Karsten - When I told my wife about your Yoda comment, she asked "Why would you be compared with Yoda? Is it because of your bad grammar, or the hair growing out of your ears, or the fact you often smell like you live in a swamp?"   I honestly love this woman. She makes me laugh.
