2012 Fore & Aft attempt for Roadkill

Post by fly_fischa » Sun Jan 01, 2012 3:16 pm

After Roadkills recent proposal, I decided that seeing it's the 1st day of 2012 I'd have a crack at a double. ;)

Looks like a fair dinkum fly, I bet a Barramundi or a Murray cod would smash that in Oz or a devilish ;) brown down in Tazzy.

Nice fly, mate. Looks like a very lively pattern. I imagine the hackle would be wiggling around very seductively at the slightest current. Definitely a "come hither" pattern. ;) :D

Thanks for the kind comments folks. :D

Roadkill -
Barra and Murray Cod, I think it would have to go from a 12# to at least a 3/0, but I like your enthusiasm. :D It'd work on Tassy trout for sure. :D Thanks for planting the idea of tying a fore & aft. It was a lot of fun and looks like a juicy morsel. Let's hope the trout think so too ;)

I know a river where the West Slope Cutthroat will smash that fly in half a heart beat. I like it (that means I'll be having a copy or three in my box).

Cheers Ron, I appreciate the gesture, it's nice to think you'll catch some cutthroat trout on it. They're such a gorgeous fish. I had a fantastic fishing trip back in 98 where I fished for cutthroats in the rocky mountains of BC. On my best day I caught 33 on a beautiful forest stream called the skookumchuck, one of the best days ever.

Thanks again
Karsten :D
