Sulphur

Still working on my photography due to the recent cold weather and wind. This is a soft hackled fly that I used this summer during the sulphur hatch on a nearby stream. It is tied on a #15 tiemco 102Y. Any comments are much appreciated and thanks for your past help. Otto

Gorgeous fly, Otto. Beautiful color combination and profile. I wouldn't change anything about this fly. Could you share the recipe?

Thread: Orange Pearsall's Gossamer silk thread
Body: Yellow and Orange blend of superfine dubbing
Thorax: Mole fur
Hackle: Collin's dun hen hackle

Beautiful dressing.....nice pic...........but why.......(??).......do you use a synthetic, water proff dubbing, for an underwater fly.........? Or are you tryin' to keep it as high as you can in the water column? Tkx., just curious.

willowhead, the dubbing body is very sparse, although it may look heavy on the picture. usually i dunk the fly in the water before i cast the fly and the silk and mole dubbing absorb water. i do want the fly to ride high in the water column and i make another variation of this fly with just a silk body that i will post later as well. thanks for the question.

That fly would slay on many of the streams in this area while the sulphurs are about. Also, an excellent photo of it.
