Anyway, this little experiment shows once again the importance of checking the flies color when it is wet.
My theory: all silk is the same color when wet. Great looking fly, and the photo's lately have been outstanding.

Oh!

That's a beaut Ray. I'm always partial to the copper wire. It adds something a little different. Very classy little fly.

Holy Smokes Ray!
I am lovin' every turn of the thread and wire on this one! Super fantastic! Donald is right. Very North Country-ish! Great beauty out of such simple elegance. Keep creating Ray. We can't get enough of this!

Thanks guys (used collectively). I appreciate the encouragement. This fly was just an excuse to play around with some new materials. JohnP sent me the ash colored silk. I bought the Indian Hen hackle from Jim Slattery last week. I wanted to play with these lovely materials and this is what I ended up tying. The body shape is a result of my not wanting to cover up the ash silk. I wanted it to be visible in the rear half of the fly.

FUNNY!   :D

Vicki - I'm a fan of copper too. An under utilized color, IMO.

Ray, this one just speaks to me. A classic in every way. I was impressed as well at the tonal shift in the ash silk. With this combination, i'm sure it works out really well. beautiful pic too. You really found just the right background to make seeing the fly in its best light. Great post.

Great stuff there Ray. The copper adds very nice subtle flash appeal.
