Picking up on the pink theme in an earlier thread, I made these four flies with a single strand of pale pink tapestry wool, Anchor 8254.


Hook:14 Grip 14723
Silk: ash
Hackle: golden badger hen
Abdomen: light pink wool
Thorax: gray Australian opossum (thanks Jeff) & pale brown arctic fur spun on chestnut silk (could have used ash)

Hackle: rusty dun hen
Abdomen: Light pink wool
Thorax: pale brown Argentinian hare spun on ash




Hook: 10 Tiemco 206 BL
Silk: ash
Hackle: partridge dyed burnt orange
Abdomen: light pink wool
Thorax: hare's cheek spun on primrose silk (could have been ash)




Hook: 12 Mustad limerick up-eye (thanks Old Hat!)
Silk: black
Hackle: golden badger hen
Abdomen: light pink wool
Thorax: mole spun on black

Great experimental set, Lance. I am drawn to the second one for its etherial appearance, and to the last for the abdomen/thorax contrast on that beast of a hook. All the photos are technically outstanding.

A very nice set! My favorite is the first one--a great looking hairball, in the nicest possible sense.

Thanks for the encouragement. These images came from my desktop scanner, which is why there are shadows. My photography setup is out of commission temporarily, but the scans are plenty good for the forum.

There was a fifth pattern that I scanned, and add here:

Exceptional set of "pretty in pink" flies Lance!
The subdued tones of that yarn are very cool, a pale plump body with that hint of life the colour adds, very nice. All different, but all very fishy looking ties. Like the through thorax wrap of the first, but the burnt orange hackle on the third just make it leap from the screen. The second for it's subtle tones, the fourth for it's bold colour changes and the fifth for the increasing tones.

Great set, well tied and well presented.

Lance - These are extraordinary! Very subtle & stylish, yet highly fishable. Once again, I'm getting that vintage-vibe, which makes these an instant classic.
