Yeah, I've noticed the same thing streamside. We discussed this before, but I think this color shift is one of the reasons the zugbug pattern is such a good imitation of the isonychia nymph.
EDIT (Note - the fly in the photo is not a zugbug - this is a photo of one of my POP flies tyed with a golden brown silk - the peacock herl just looked "bronzy" when it got wet)

Ray this is another great shot. It's one of the frustrating things about chatting with me. I won't remember most conversations, but then you could recycle topics and I'll get just as excited each time. agreed on the zug bug...but then I probably agreed last time.

Ray, that's a great photo.
I agree the green takes on a bronze effect when wet, but still prefer natural bronze...... but then I have the ability to be bias. Most of our natural's are dull, bland and darker coloured, for me the true bronze gives a better imitation and still adds the "X" factor that herl offers.

I dont blame ya, Jeff. Live large, when you can. I save my real bronze peacock herl for the special stuff.

That's an awesome colour and shape. Can you post the recipe? If not here what about in another thread. Pictures of it dry would also help fly tyers like me with limited experience.letumgo wrote:

Boris - I will post the recipe tomorrow. I am too tired today (still suffering "jet lag" from my recent trip to China).
