Jason, for any number of color combinations, this is a really nice little spider. Very nicely done. Jeff's right, we do (some of us) overlook the blue bodies. Thanks for sharing this one.

Really nice looking pattern! It has a very classy look to it much like a full dress salmon fly. Why don't we immitate some of the classics on smaller irons?

I like blue in flies, it is usually very good on Sea-run flies. I like this spider very much.
To me, the name reminds me of something sold by an ice-cream van.
It is still a nice, well dressed spider.

The inspiration for using blue as a body color came from another fly that performed very well last summer. It's called a Blueberry Bugger. If you check ebay you can see what I'm talking about. Well, this fall I got the material to start tying the Blueberry bugger myself. Which included some blue floss. After tying up a batch of the buggers yesterday I took the leftover blue floss and made a couple variations on the theme. I also did a peacock herl body with blue floss rib the looks nice. I'll post pics after work today.

@Dougsden- Taking other patterns and translating them to the soft hackle is great idea. I've done it with a couple patterns like the Adams and the Professor.

Side note- Mark Libertone was nice enough to crop the pic down for me. It's much easier to see the details in this version of the photo. I still have a ways to go when it come to photographing small stuff.....
