DD, that is one heck of a nice fly.
The original drawings are very cool, although I cannot pretend to understand the script, I do feel it would be very hard to catch on the bottom hook shown in the diagram.

He recommends the use of Mustad hooks since the temper of these makes it easier to squeeze the barb down. He says that British hooks are strong but harder tempered so they are more prone to breaking when de-barbed. It is in line with my own experience of British hooks. I have to anneal them to be able to de-barb them. Strong but brittle.

Stefan, I was being a bit cheeky. Not knowing what the writing said I went off the pictures of the hooks, first crushed barb- then original hook and last the hook missing point and barb.
Is that what the writing explains? To anneal the hook before crushing the barb so that the breakage does not occur?

I received an answer to my email this afternoon.
In it Mr. Mats Sjostrand, the editor/publisher etc.
provided a link to the page in question and expressed his
desire to NOT give permissions for utilizing any copyrights.

Remember I called you an important asset to the forum? You always see who is without clothes and you are not afraid to tell the rest of us.

Gunnar Johnson has always been sceptic to the commercial side of flyfishing. In his mind, business should have no part in our pastime. I think this explains why he is on his toes regarding copyright. At least I think it is a part of the explanation. I have always respected his privacy and just met him once, many years ago. Everybody wanted a part of him while he was the editor of that Scandinavian fly fishing magazine.

If there is any fly left you might post it so we can put it to rest. Thank you for your effort. I have bought a camera, my first since that Kodak Instamatic fifty years ago. The manual has 91 pages so I guess you won't hear from me for the next fifty years..
