Iron Dun Spider

Differing from Hans' wonderful pattern that employs palmered grey hen hackle over a muskrat body, this spider falls into the "North Country sparse" genre.

Hook: Daiichi 1640, #14
Thread: Pearsall's Gossamer, crimson
Hackle: Iron dun hen
Body: Muskrat underfur touch dubbed on waxed working thread

A sparse NCS indeed. I always like to see the subtle touch dubbed material as just a hint on these patterns. Beautiful little spider.

This is a great example Bill. Appears very traditional. The entire fly is constructed well but that hackle looks wonderful. Classy tie, thanks for sharing.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Nice ties both Bill. The Iron Dun Spider and the Jackdaw and Black Mole. Viewing this style tie takes me to smooth little glides on spring creek's and brown trout sipping tiny flies stuck in the film. A fun tie and even more fun fishing these little bugger's.
