Twisted Turkey
Hook: Partridge CZF #14
Thread: Benecchi 12/0, black
Hackle: White tipped turkey barbs
Abdomen: Mottled turkey barbs, grey mallard barbs, hot orange; krystal flash, opal - twisted together
Thorax: Mottled turkey fluey barbs, twisted around tying thread

Hans - Did you tye in the hackle fibers by the base and fold them back at the end, or are the wrapped? Whatever the method, the results are beautiful.

Ray,

Barbs were tied in pointing over the eye, and folded back to complete the fly. The lower section of the barbs were used for the abdomen. Fluey barbs from the same feather were used for the thorax.

Waste not, want not 8-)

Thanks. That is what I was guessing, but wanted to be sure. This technique opens up a wide range of hackling possibilities, for feathers that are too large to be wrapped, or with stems too thick for wrapping. Lots of possibilities...
