Lil' Dorothy Swap

Post by fflutterffly » Fri Sep 27, 2013 1:58 pm

I had a few inquires and I forgot to mention this is a swap

Would anyone be interested in a Mark L. Swap. I'm suggesting the following:
Open swap to as many who want to join. Swap entry will end on October 15th.
I will be the swap master and handle all international cost of postage back.
Flies will be due on Dec. 1, 2013. That is 1.5 months to tie
I personally will be sending 1 original Lil Dorothy pattern and 1 variant (Western Lil Dorothy- rust hackle)
I'll be leaving for two weeks to steelhead on the Trinity River and surrounding waters so my up-dating this post will be limited.

Trinity? Nice area. My family has a ranch on the Klamath in Orleans, CA. Beautiful water all around. You know, there are quite a few wonderful classic wingless wet patterns developed especially for the steelhead in those waters.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Just realized how crappy that last post sounded. Was trying to indicate that perhaps the fly to be tied may end up being called the Mark L. if it incorporates things found in the flies he has presented here over the years. Was not meaning to sound Schnarky or anything.

D - Don't worry about it. That's the downside of printed communication, be it in forum posts, letters, email or whatever. It's hard to convey the intended thought, and sometimes it comes across looking a little out in left field. Not a problem.

Ariel - are you proposing that we pick one of Mark's patterns to tie, or everyone tying a Lil' Dorothy or variant?
Either way, please count me in. Thanks.

Ariel,
I wanna join in too! As a wonderful tribute to a great man! Now, where's the thread with the swap details?

Count me in. It's a thoughtful testament to Mark's memory.
