Badger Hen and Scarlet

Post by tie2fish » Tue Dec 31, 2013 10:40 am

Tied on a Size #18 dry fly hook using Pearsall's Gossamer #11A and the "shortened" remnants of a badger hen saddle feather from another project (legs on an Isonychia nymph).

Bill,
Another classic! The hooks you are using have a very vintage look about them! That's very cool! This one has the trademark of greatness!

Stunning combination. The white tips are eye-catching. Flawless execution.

tie2fish, Howdy;

I remember a post by Mike Connor about the "Setting" of hackles.
http://flymphforum.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... e&start=20
took a few minutes to find it and his post on page 3 is the one I remembered so,
if you want to change the shape of the hackle instead of having them stick straight-out,
he shows a few methods for doing so.
Nothing wrong or anything I can tell with what you have shown us it's a beautifully crafted
fly and very well photographed.Just thought I'd mention it as some alternatives for the future.
