The Spring 2015 issue of
Trout magazine from Trout Unlimited contains a three-page article by Dave Whitlock on
North Country Spiders.
The highlight for me is the full-page illustration.

It is instructive to see the feathers and the flies juxtaposed in this way.

Lance - Thank you for bringing this to our attention. What a beautiful illustration. After seeing this, I am planning to buy a print of the illustration from Dave's website. I am a huge fan of Mr. Whitlock and had the pleasure of meeting him at one of the tying shows.
While I was visiting his website, I also found an interesting article he had written on traditional wet flies. This may be of interest to others on this forum too.

What a great piece of work. Mr. Whitlock is one of the most pleasant figures in fly fishing I have ever met. A true gentleman and a fabulous artist.

This is great! One of the problems I have is figuring out what a hackle looked like before it was wrapped on the hook. This gave me a chance to study the before and after and do a "this goes here and that ends up there..." comparison.
Thank you for posting it. I'll have to go buy a print for myself.
