Roadkill, Howdy;

Easy enough ... highlighted your words "brown owl's wing", right clicked and then again where it showed "search Google"
result is; https://www.google.com/search?q=brown+o ... 80&bih=699

Thanks Hank!

Could you narrow the owls down to the proper British birds used by tyers who published fly recipes in the 19th Century? ;) :mrgreen:

Roadkill, Howdy;

You are in the ball park, you can do the digging now, after all
I may go divergent and you'd never know (:twisted:), better to handle the
narrowing yourself ;) , :? .

I finally got around to photographing my set of Syl Nemes flies. Here they are.

Image
Partridge & Orange
Image
Starling & Purple

This was an especially intriguing little fly. It looks like a little midge cluster (peacock herl body with a grizzly dry fly hackle and four very fine strands of clear mylar tinsel for the tail).

I loved this little winged wet fly. It had a peacock body with a yellow belly band, and whispy wing. A delicate little fly, I am guessing around a size 16.

Iron Blue Dun

Grouse and Green
Image
Starling and Peacock (beetle pattern - note the hackle collar includes the fluffy bits at the base of the starling feather)
Image

Partridge & Hares Ear Spider (when I took this photo, I was immediately reminded of a live spider).

Ostrich, Starling & Grey

The compete set of flies, ten in all.

They are not tied neatly for the screen - they look as if they were meant for fishing. I expect full report when you have fished them and photos of the trees that ate them.

Nice set.

Great to see this thread revived. Ray you got some dandy little wets in that set! Scantily dressed with just a touch of dubbing, wispy hackles, love it! Thanks for showing these off :)

Ray, I really enjoy seeing these flies in such nice detail. Seems you've got a number of gems that make an exceptional collection. I'm jealous. With this grouping of pics from our collections and others who post we certainly have a very real idea of he man behind the enthusiasm. From the flies he's put together here, he seems to be more like us than we are. :D these look like they might have fallen from any of our boxes (except Shuck, damn that guy is good :lol: ).

Nice images. Can't wait to see these in person.

Anyone else who wants to broaden the scope of this thread with more of his flies, it would make for an even clearer picture.
