Baillie's (Stewart's) Dun Spider

Hope this fishes as good as it looks! A fine late season olive imitation is what I'm thinking.
Hook: Daiichi 1560 #16
Silk: Pearsall's Yellow #5 waxed with cobblers wax.
Hackle: Starling inside covert. Greyish Dun colored feather under the feathers used for the Black Spider.

I'm really digging this fly. It might fish better a bit more sparsely dressed.

I'm shoveling right with you on this one, Eric. A sure winner any time of the year if olives are about. Same hackle/thread twisting process as your Baillie's black?

That'll fish sure as dynamite! Poor fish don't stand a chance...

Really nice variation Eric. ;)

Seems like I missed a step in there somewhere, lol. Not unusual for me. :?
Could I bother either of you gents for a little more explanation?

In any case, I like the fly. It looks like something my little panfish buddies might like to nibble on.

You bet! I love that method, it makes for a durable fly but, if you overwax the thread the hackle sometimes catches on the thread while twisting and is quite a royal pain in the ass.

I posted a sbs some time ago on Stewart's Black Spider and the technique I use to slightly palmer the hackle while reinforcing at the same time.
