Started as the HP (Hare/Partridge) Nymph but morphed into an exercise in dubbing loops and aftershafts. Don't get hung up on the exact materials; use whatever you want.


hook - Dai Riki 280 #10
thread - UTC 140 burnt orange
tail - hare's mask
rib - small wire gold
body - tying thread
thorax/collar - pheasant aftershaft dyed brown
hackle - Mearns quail

My kind of tying, man. You're empowering rather than constraining.

That's also as feisty-looking fly. I'd throw it at anything within a 200-mile radius of me. I'd say this is certainly a soft hackle for warmwater folks.
