Lovely fly Ray. The Coq and speckled india hen complement each other well. Do you have specific hatch in mind with this one? Curious.

Ray, very nice fly, very nicely tied and presented. 8-)
In the dressing details you say " Tails/ back" am I correct in assuming that you have tied the barbs in at the shoulder and bound them down with the rib?

Dennis (scotfly) - Yes. I tyed in the CdL near the front of the hook, after tying in the hackle. I then lightly dubbed the silk tying thread with the silk dubbing and wound it back towards the bend of the hook. I intentionally left the a few wraps of plane silk thread at the back of the hook (probably 4 or 5 wraps) before pulling the CdL over the back of the fly to form the tail and darken the back of the fly. I tried another method (tying in the CdL as the tail and winding forward), but tying the tailing material in at the front is easier and gave me better results. The technique is the same as is used when tying a "Skip's Nymph". I like the technique a lot, and it gives me the results I want, so I use it frequently.

Carl (Old Hat) - No. I did not have a specific hatch in mind. I just liked the look of the dun-colored silk dubbing and I recently found my CdL tailing materials which had been lost on my tying table for ages. I started playing around and this is what I came up with. The simple gray color scheme seems like it would work for something...

Nice looking pattern Ray. It has a "ghostly" quality to it and I know it would be deadly out on my favorite waters. Please keep'm coming!
